PANTOPIX has been working with CarboCert GmbH for 5 years to reduce its own carbon footprint through certified carbon sequestration in soils, forests and agroforestry systems and at the same time actively contribute to climate protection.
The partnership enables us to support regional sustainability initiatives, show responsibility for our environment and minimize our ecological footprint in the long term.
CarboCert GmbH, based in Bodnegg, is an innovative company in the field of climate protection and sustainability that specializes in the certification of carbon sequestration. CarboCert supports farms, forestry operations and companies in specifically reducing CO₂ emissions and generating CO₂ certificates. The company focuses on three central approaches: building up humus to bind CO₂ in the soil in the long term, afforestation (reforestation) to store carbon in trees and soil, and agroforestry, which combines agriculture and forestry to combine ecological and economic benefits. With these measures, CarboCert contributes both to the reduction of greenhouse gases and to the promotion of sustainable land use and biodiversity.
Healthy and humus-rich soil is a decisive factor for climate protection: the more humus is built up, the more CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and stored in the soil. By building up humus in regional soils, we were able to offset part of our CO2 emissions.
Last year, we supported an agroforestry project in collaboration with Biohof Igel, where we contributed to sustainable land use and carbon sequestration. This year, we were able to make a small but important contribution to climate protection through our involvement in a reforestation project at Abler Agriculture by promoting reforestation and thus supporting carbon storage in forests.
Hedge planting at the Igel organic farm in Grünkraut
Last year, we supported the Igel organic farm in Grünkraut with EUR 5,000 to plant hedges in order to create microclimate zones in the field and prevent water loss. Hedges bind carbon both in their biomass and in the soil, which leads to long-term CO₂ storage. At the same time, hedges protect the soil from erosion and improve its structure, which further stabilizes carbon sequestration. They also promote biodiversity by providing a habitat for many animal and plant species and contribute to climate resilience by protecting agricultural land from extreme weather conditions such as wind or heavy rainfall.
We are always on the lookout for the ideal conditions for plants and animals. We firmly believe in the organic circular economy and want to create the best possible microcosm for our local nature.

Climate-stable forest conversion near Bodnegg with the help of a poplar forest
In spring 2024, 500 poplars were planted at the Abler farm in Bodnegg as an understory forest on the open damaged areas caused by storms and snow pressure. Due to the climate-related collapse of the spruce stands, it is necessary to restore the central forest functions as quickly as possible. As a fast-growing tree species, the poplar is very well suited for this. It is easy to plant, heat-resistant and very fast-growing. As a result, it quickly forms a shade that protects and cools the soil. We were once again happy to support this project with EUR 5000.
Under the protection of the poplars, the existing fir trees can establish themselves. After three to four years, the poplar stand is thinned out again so that a mixed forest can develop.

We are very pleased about the good cooperation with CarboCert and are proud to be able to make a small contribution to climate protection in our region. We are already planning our environmental project for next year – we would like to get involved ourselves!
