The linguistic competence of prospective technical writers appears to be declining. Not a big deal? Is language not already in retreat in technical documentation anyway? Using various examples, the presentation shows that linguistic competence in morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics continues to be of eminent importance despite the growing popularity of audiovisual media.
Great Expectations: How Service Parts and Service Information (Finally) Come Together

But technical documentation departments still face the challenge of bringing together what belongs together: service and parts information. Using a specific project with BMW passenger cars as an example, we show how knowledge graphs can intelligently connect information and which hurdles have to be overcome.
