Challenges in technical communication

The technical documentation department at Bosch Security and Safety Systems is responsible for the creation, management and provision of product information. In view of the growing volume of information and complex requirements, the editorial team was faced with the challenge of efficiently classifying content and making it available for various channels.

Although there was already initial experience with metadata and approaches to a metadata model, there was no overarching vision for future use and integration. Of particular relevance was the question of which metadata is required in the Component Content Management System (CCMS) in order to efficiently publish content in a Content Delivery Portal (CDP) at a later date. The aim was to develop an intelligent and sustainable strategy for managing editorial content.

Our solution approach

PANTOPIX supported the editorial team at Bosch Security and Safety Systems with a proven, practical approach:

• Organisation of a vision workshop to define the long-term goals and requirements.
• Analysing the existing system landscape to identify key challenges.
• Development of an individual metadata model that optimises the classification and reusability of content.
• Demonstrating the potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in technical communication.

Future-proof content strategy

The Bosch Security and Safety Systems team has gained a deep understanding of metadata and topic-based content through the project. It is now in a position to take the next steps towards implementing a comprehensive content strategy. The metadata model developed serves as the basis for a future-proof content architecture and improves the efficiency of content distribution in the future content delivery portal.
